Join the 1.5 million people in the UK who have chosen ECDL as the way to learn all important IT skills.
ECDL is an internationally recognised qualification demonstrating competence in computer skills. It is a fast growing qualification aimed at anyone wishing to improve their ICT skills for greater career prospects, to help in their existing employment, or just for their own benefit. ECDL is rapidly becoming a standard requirement of a lot of employers including the NHS.
The ECDL syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use in the workplace and society. It is broken down into seven modules, each of which must be passed before an ECDL certificate is awarded.
Teaching Methods
You do not need any prior computer knowledge as we can start teaching you from any level. Our courses are run by Open Learning where you work at your own pace from a book or via computer based learning. There is no pressure to keep up with (or be held back by) others and there is full support and advice from our fully trained tutors. Each module has its own 45 minute exam, (Concepts of Information Technology and Using IT are paper-based multiple choice papers, the other modules are practical computer-based tests) and may be taken in any order and over any period of time up to three years - even all at once - offering maximum flexibility.
Once registered here at LymeNET a logbook listing all 7 modules is issued. We offer the ECDL in the form of the British Computer Society IT User Qualification. This consists of two levels as follows:
ECDL Modules
Level 1:
- ECDL Module 1, Concepts of Information Technology
- ECDL Module 2, Using the Computer and Managing Files
- ECDL Module 7, Information and Communication
Once you have completed Level 1, you can start working on
